Ignacio Movie and The Balik-Grade School Experience

Greetings from Blue8791 Inc., a non-stock, non-profit corporation organized by members of Ateneo Grade School Batch 1987 and Ateneo High School Batch 1991!

As you may already know, our high school batch 1991 is hosting this year’s Grand Alumni Homecoming, which will be held in December. As part of our fundraising efforts for this momentous occasion, Blue8791 Inc. has lined up several activities that are scheduled to run throughout the year.

One such activity is the “Balik-Grade School Experience,” spearheaded by our grade school ’87 batchmates. We all have fond memories of our time at the Ateneo Grade School. For most of us, this was where we spent most of our years as Ateneans. It was also during this time that our formation as men for others began and where we established and cultivated lasting friendships. Life then was carefree and not too complicated.

The “Balik-Grade School Experience” aims to allow each and every one of us to relive those moments and celebrate our storied childhood with friends, teachers and family. It is a family-oriented activity that consists of three parts. The main feature of this event is the screening of Ignacio de Loyola at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater on July 30, 2016. Ignacio de Loyola is a full-length feature film on the life and times of our patron saint, St. Ignatius. This film, hopefully, will inspire us and our children to follow the Ignatian way and continue leading our lives as men for others.

The screening of Ignacio de Loyola will be followed by the inaugural lighting of the LED lights surrounding the statue of St. Ignatius. The new LED lights will provide more illumination to St. Ignatius, making him more prominent and, hopefully, deter our naughty brothers from unhanding him of his sword. The new LED light will be more cost-effective and earth-friendly as well.

Last but not the least is the after-screening party and appreciation night for our dear teachers and staff, which will be held at the AGS Cafeteria. We promise good food and loads of surprises for everyone, reminiscent of our class nights from decades ago.

To make the “Balik-Grade School Experience” more memorable and as genuine as possible, we encourage all AGS alumni to come in their khaki pants and white polos, complete with Ateneo patches if possible. Bring your friends and family as well.

The proceeds to be generated from this event will be for the benefit of our Tulong Dunong scholars, as well as other worthy projects of the Ateneo Alumni Association. We hope your batch can support the “Balik-Grade School Experience,” not only through sponsorships and financial donations, but more importantly, by taking part in the event itself, which we hope will be the start of a yearly tradition at the AGS.
